Managing Books and Portfolios
OWL provides tools to manage books and assemble them into portfolios that can be used to control LLMs.
Creating, Updating or Deleting a Portfolio
You can create an OWL portfolio by clicking the PORTFOLIOS link in the top menu, then My Portfolios and then + Create New Portfolio, which launches a form to provide the following information on the portfolio:
- Portfolio Name
- Description
- Category – initially Philosophy, Authors or Other (to be expanded soon)
- Visibility – Private (you only), Enterprise (all users of your organization) or Public (all OWL users).
Once you have provided this information, you will see a portfolio page where you can +Add Books. This button launches the Book Search interface. See Selecting Books below for details on how to add books. You will continue adding books to the new portfolio until you click Done in the green bar near the top of the Book Search interface.
You can also add books to an existing portfolio by clicking the View button on the portfolio in My Portfolios.
You can delete a portfolio by clicking the trashcan icon on the portfolio in My Portfolios.
Selecting Books
You can select books using the Book Search interface, from three main collections:
- Project Gutenberg, which includes about 76,000 out-of-copyright books
- other books made available by OWL or other users
- your own books uploaded via My Books (which are also in category 2 if you have made them available to all users).
You can choose which of these collections are visible using the Collection drop-down menu in the left-hand panel, and you can search any collection using the other fields in the left-hand panel. Collection 1 is the main source of books at launch of OWL Beta. We expect the other collections to expand steadily.
To add a book to a portfolio click the + button on the book tile. You can also download the book using the ↓ button on the book tile.
The Book Search interface is also accessible using the BOOKS link in the top menu.
